Sophie Hilton, Site Supervisor
This is my fourth year with Camp Fire, and I have worked with a wonderful variety of kids and coworkers in this program. I love working with kids during out-of-school time. We have a special opportunity to expose kids to new and exciting outlets they might not get anywhere else. When I’m not rocking out with kids, you might see me biking around town in my yellow helmet. I’m a bit harder to find while backpacking or camping in the wonderful lands of Oregon and beyond. There are so many things I enjoy in life so I’ll break it down to just a few: dancing in the streets (or anywhere), chatting and purchasing veggies at the farmer’s market, and my newest hobby of playing the ukulele! |

Jean Porset, Lead Site Instructor
This is Jean’s third year with Camp Fire. Jean spent last summer with Xploregon youth and she is excited to join the Fernwood team. Jean is a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. She has been known to remodel train stations during lunch breaks. She is an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. She balances, she weaves, she dodges, she frolics, and her bills are all paid. On weekends, to let off steam, she participates in full-contact origami. Years ago she discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. She made extraordinary four course meals using only a butter knife and a toaster oven. |

Jerimiah Overton, Site Instructor
Jeremiah has enjoyed working with children since being a Counselor in Training at Walden West Summer Camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains. An interest in learning about and respecting our planet is something that was instilled at an early age in him and is one he’s happy to pass along to youth at Camp Fire. When not skateboarding or crafting artisan pizzas, he can be found looking for all the unique experiences Portland has to offer. Beginning a second year at Fernwood he looks forward to opportunities for making new friends, learning new things, and playing some awesome new games! |

Stephanie Brachmann, Site Instructor
Now in her second year with Camp Fire, Stephanie Brachmann is a northwest native, hailing from the rural woods of Camas, Washington. Having spent last year at Hollyrood, she now brings her many talents to Fernwood’s Camp Fire program, including music and arts & crafts. When she’s not hanging out with Fernwood kids, she spends time working shifts at the Ronald McDonald House in North Portland, volunteering for SCRAP, and curating an art gallery called Emerson Space Case. |
