Child Care
Camp Fire offers high-quality child care services for grades K-8 at several schools in Portland Public School District. Programming is offered five days a week and on non-school weekdays both before and after school at the school sites. The program utilizes research-based, task-focused curricula and engages youth in a variety of enrichment activities. Each week students are immersed in creative arts, service learning, physically active recreation, and a rotating menu of 6-8 week subject-specific “clubs.” Each club allows kids to explore new skills and knowledge in subjects as diverse as yoga, soccer, skateboarding, cooking, animals, and books.
All programming is rooted in best practices. Camp Fire’s low 11:1 staff-to-student ratio ensures all students receive sufficient individual attention. Camp Fire employs highly qualified staff that receive over 90 hours of training per year. Over half of Camp Fire staff hold graduate degrees in education and all have over five years of experience in the field.
Locations include Beverly Cleary at Fernwood, Beverly Cleary at Hollyrood, Creative Science, and Sunnyside Environmental schools.
