Classic Club Program

With crowded classrooms, and an increasing number of parents working long hours or multiple jobs, kids need an afterschool option that provides individualized attention from caring, positive adult role models. The Classic Club Program continues the historic curriculums that made Camp Fire a household name with an emphasis on one-one-one attention, experiential learning, and service to the community.
In small neighborhoods or at school sites, children meet regularly to explore the world, exercise their creativity, learn about community service and gain a sense of belonging while having fun. Groups are led by adult volunteer teams who use specialized program materials. Camp Fire’s Club Program involves small youth groups that meet with adult volunteer leaders on a regular basis and are grouped by school grade:
- Little Stars (ages 3-5)
- Starflight (K-2nd)
- Adventure (3rd-5th)
- Discovery (6th-8th)
- Horizon (9th-12th)
Clubs have four important qualities:
- Club Progression: As the children get older they are given more responsibility, choices and leadership.
- Variety: We teach a wide variety of activities and focus on asset-based skills (i.e. honesty, responsibility, compassion and caring, integrity)
- Partnerships between youth and adults: Youth and adults set the direction of activities and accomplishments.
- Rewards and Recognition: Club programs reward participation and achievement that builds self esteem and pride.
The Classic Club Program is offered throughout Camp Fire Columbia’s 8-county service area, with the majority of our clubs in Washington, Multnomah, and Clackamas counties. New clubs are starting all the time.
